Privacy Policy

What this site collects, and what it doesn't.

This is a personal publication about web analytics. The irony of an analytics site respecting your privacy isn’t lost on me — so here’s exactly what does and doesn’t happen when you visit.

The short version

  • I don’t sell your data. There’s nothing to sell.
  • I don’t run invasive ad trackers or third-party advertising cookies.
  • If you email me or use the contact form, I keep your message so I can reply.
  • Standard server logs and privacy-respecting analytics may record visits in aggregate.

Information collected

When you contact me

If you submit the contact form or email [email protected], I receive the details you provide — your name, email address, and message. I use this only to respond to you. I don’t add you to a mailing list without your consent.

When you comment

If comments are enabled and you leave one, the comment form data, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string, are stored to help with spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to check for a profile image.

Server logs & analytics

Like virtually every website, the hosting server records standard request logs (IP address, page requested, timestamp, referrer, user-agent) for security and troubleshooting. Any analytics used here is configured to respect your privacy and is reviewed only in aggregate — never to identify you personally.

Cookies

This site uses only the cookies WordPress needs to function (for example, to remember comment details if you leave one). It does not set third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How long data is kept

Contact messages are kept as long as they’re useful for our correspondence, then deleted. Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up replies make sense in context. Server logs are rotated on the host’s normal schedule.

Your rights

You can request a copy of the personal data I hold about you, or ask me to delete it, at any time. Email [email protected] and I’ll take care of it. If you’re in the EU/UK, you have these rights under the GDPR; I’m happy to honor them regardless of where you live.

Third-party services

A few embedded or linked services (such as fonts, or media you click through to) have their own privacy policies. This policy covers only jery.net itself.

Questions about your data?

Email [email protected] — I read every message and I’m glad to explain anything here in plain language.
